Getting started

What to bring to the first reputation conversation.

A short, practical guide to the public information that helps define the right next step.

You do not need a completed strategy to start. A small amount of public information and a clear description of the concern usually make the first conversation more useful.

Explain your role

Tell us whether you are contacting Novara for your own firm, for an attorney, or for a represented client. For a client matter, identify whether counsel should be the primary point of contact or whether a joint conversation makes sense.

Describe what people are finding

Use a brief factual summary. For example: an older article is prominent in searches for a client; firm details differ across directories; or a partner’s current experience is difficult to find. Include a few relevant public links where available.

Avoid sending a long archive before scope and handling arrangements have been agreed. The first step is to understand the concern, not to collect the entire matter file.

Name the decision that is at stake

What is the online picture affecting? It might be prospective-client confidence, an employment conversation, professional visibility, or concern about personal contact information. Knowing that helps determine which work should be considered first.

Identify the reviewer

Explain who can approve a biography, a review response, website copy, or a proposed public statement. If those responsibilities are shared, note that early so the plan can account for them.

Use this short preparation list

A useful first inquiry includes:

  • Your name, firm, and preferred contact details
  • Whether the concern involves your firm or a represented client
  • A brief summary of the online issue
  • A small number of relevant public links
  • The outcome you want to work toward
  • Any timing consideration and the designated reviewer

What happens next

We discuss fit and priorities, then define the appropriate next step. That may be a scoped assessment, a service proposal, or a separate privacy-partner pathway. Fees, deliverables, responsibilities, and limitations are agreed before work begins.

Submitting an inquiry does not start a campaign or create a legal engagement. Keep privileged documents, identification records, client files, and sensitive personal details out of the initial form.

A practical reputation-management perspective, not legal advice. Counsel should determine the legal and professional requirements for the specific situation.
